Well...I have had some interest in learning to develop audio drivers, so that may have some added value, but you are right... it is a lot of work for this requirement.

The conclusion is that it would require kernel development, and would probably add latency... So seems too much work for tiny added value.
Probably better to convince applications developers to support ASIO model...
