Indeed, I did have that backwards, conceptually and practically. Thanks for
setting me straight. I had to struggle a bit around some dbus oddities on
the master, but once past those it was smooth sailing. That accomplishes my
initial goal of streaming audio with low latency to the Raspberry Pi -
yipee.

The next goal is more complicated and would require code, and before I dive
into learning the API, I should validate this is even possible and get my
head oriented correctly around the master/server concept.

I want to capture 8 channels of audio with, perhaps, an ffado-compatible
device, and either (A) send all channels to multiple playback devices and
let them mix it (in code) or (B) prepare a mix (in code) on the capture
device for each playback device and then send two channels to each one. I
prefer B so the playback device has as little to do as possible since it
will be the weaker hardware.

Are either of those scenarios doable, and if so, which is the jack master
and which is the jack slave?
