I suggest you directly jump to step 3: The idea has been out for a week
on jack-devel. Meanwhile many core-team members have shown on other
threads that they're not on offline holiday.. nobody objected.

Stephane, Fons et al may provide some [constructive] criticism once the

That might be held back by Paul's work to unify the headers of jack; not
sure if your patch effects that.
